How to get rid of test anxiety?(5/5)
Ever faced anxiety on a test day? The following tips can help you mentally battle anxiety and achieve excellent results.
- Arrive on time or early for the test. If you reach to the test late, it will cause your anxiety to begin before you even start the test. Prepare in advance everything you can to be on time for the test. In this way, you can stay calm and relax for a few minutes before starting. You'll be able to collect your thoughts and focus on positive thinking. This time of brief relaxation right before the test is very important to a great start.
- Stop and breathe deeply if you feel anxiety settling in. Everyone will have a certain amount of nervous energy during the test. However, if you find yourself starting to forget everything, to lose concentration, and feel any of the physical signs of anxiety, then stop working on the test immediately. If you continue without fully relaxing yourself, you could have a panic attack during the test.
- For a few minutes, close your eyes and inhale deep, full breaths. After you start feeling better, resume working.
- Remain focused on the question you are working on. Don't let your mind to wander during the test taking process. Otherwise, that will give room for negative thoughts to enter in and distract you. Just ensure that your mind is on the question you're working on. This way, all your energy can focus on figuring out the correct answer.
- If you have trouble concentrating, try silently re-reading the question to yourself. This will improve your memory and help you stay focused.
- Skip a question if you are getting stuck. If you come across a difficult question, it can cause an anxiety attack and could mess up your concentration for the rest of the test.
- Positive thinking, deep breathing and being adequately prepared prior to the test are all ways to avoid anxiety and eliminate panic attacks on your test day. Relaxation techniques will also help you get rid of anxiety and keep you focused.
